NIFT SITUATION TEST After 1 month of NIFT written exam, NIFT has announced their 1^st Phase result and this was first time they had announced so early their result of written exam. For General qualifying marks was 47.2 and OBC 36.2 out of 80 marks. This year the cutoff was much higher than last year cutoff marks because of no negative marks and more number of applicants applied this year NIFT 2016 comparatively last year 2015.

Being NIFT 2016 Entrance aspirants, you need to know the below three points for NIFT Situation Test 2016.

NIFT Situation Test Date: NIFT Situation Test 2016 will be held on different dates i.e. 15 to 20 April 2016 (expected) at NIFT campuses as per NIFT Rank & Categories. NIFT Situation Test is conducted for all those candidates who have qualified NIFT 1^st Phase written exam, which was held in the month of Feb 2016. Almost 50,000 students appeared for NIFT exam across India for admission in 16 NIFT colleges.
About NIFT Situation Test 2016: NIFT Situation Test has weightage of 20% and which are 20 marks of 100 marks and total time allotted for this exam is 2 hours in that students have to design 3D model with creative write up and all the materials used will be given by the NIFT in one packet. Most of the time NIFT give students waste material to use for 3D model. NIFT conduct this exam at their respective centres. Through NIFT Situation Test, NIFT observe which candidate has ability to use of material with their aesthetic value according to the given theme or topic in exam. This is important phase for deciding the all India Rank of any candidate. NIFT assess the creative ability in the student through this exam.
NIFT Situation Test 2016 Preparation: Pahal has announced 12 days NIFT Situation Test workshop at 11 centres of Pahal (South Extension, Nirman Vihar, Pitampura, Bhopal, Patna, Lucknow, Ranchi, Kanpur, Dehradun, Pune, Bangalore) considering all the basic requirements for NIFT Situation Test and update their syllabus and way of conducting workshop every year by NIFT Alumni and Design experts. Pahal conduct 2 NIFT mock Tests for Time management during exam and also has 2 days class on write up to make sure the candidate has given final touch on what they have designed.

NIFT GROUP DISCUSSION AND INTERVIEW (MFM, MFTECH, M.DES)

NIFT (MFM, M.Des, M.Ftech) conducts Group Discussion and Interview for those students who have provisionally shortlisted after NIFT first phase Result. NIFT has 30% marks weightage for Group discussion(15%) and Interview(15%), so this is a important phase for improving candidate all India ranking.

Generally Group Discussion is of 8 to 10 candidates
Students will be given case study and they will be coming with the solution of a given problem after discussion within limited time.
A panel will observe the candidates and will give marks accordingly.
GD’s are conducted to test candidate:

1. Managerial Skills
2. Interpersonal skills
3. Leadership
4. Analytical and Rational Thinking
5. Knowledge and Personality traits

10 Group Discussion Tips:

You must be audible to the groups but don’t be louder.
While Discussing do not look at the panel who is observing you.
You have to be assertive
You have to make the chances giving conclusion to the topic.
Don’t speak for the sake of getting chances, be logical so the group will come to the conclusion.
Participate in as many practice GD’s before attend actual GD.
You should have a good knowledge base.
The quality what you speak is better than quantity.
You should work as a team, appreciate other speakers if you find them logical and giving direction to the topic.
If group is stuck at one point come the new ideas for conclusion.

Interview Tips:

Eye Contact : Make eye contact
Be honest: Honesty is the best policy so don’t lie to the interviewer, if don’t know anything then simply say no to that.
Communication Skills: Good communication skills are required for interacting with interviewer.
Subject Knowledge: Study what you have studied in your graduation or qualifying exams and must have idea about the courses you have applied for your course.
Say Thanks : Say thanks when required and don’t make it access of anything.
Ask questions: Ask genuine questions if you have from interviewer.
